Transformer consists of a magnetic core and two groups of coils wound around the magnetic core.

The coil on the power input side is called the primary coil, and the coil on the power output side is called the secondary coil.
When the alternating current is input to the primary coil, the alternating magnetic field is generated in the magnetic core, and then the alternating current is generated by the electromagnetic induction of the secondary coil.In an ideal transformer, the ratio of the output voltage to the input voltage is equal to the ratio of the number of turns of the secondary coil to the primary coil. The ratio of the output current to the input current is equal to the inverse ratio of the number of turns of the secondary coil to the primary coil.
Transformer primary voltage protection measures, play the following roles:
1. Prevent the input overvoltage from breaking down the primary coil insulation layer, causing inter-turn short circuit to burn the transformer.
2, to prevent the input overvoltage caused by the output overvoltage, burned after the electrical equipment.
