Power inductors are an inductor that is often used. What are the main characteristics of power inductors?
The main performance parameters of the power inductor are inductance L, DC resistance DCR, DC overlap current Isat, temperature rise allowable current Irms and self-resonant frequency SRF.
The inductance is the nominal inductance of the inductor due to the presence of magnetic permeability and distributed capacitance.
The sensitivity will vary with frequency; the accuracy of the inductor is typically M (±20%) or N (±30%).
The DC resistance DCR is the total DC resistance of the enameled wire used between the product electrodes.
The DC superimposed current Isat means that the inductance of the inductor will decrease when the inductor is continuously connected to the DC current, and the specification is generally set according to the current value when the drop is 30%.
The temperature rise current Irms means that the temperature of the surface of the inductor rises when the inductor is continuously DC-current, and the current is generally set according to the current value when the temperature rises by 40 °C.
The self-resonant frequency SRF refers to the resonance of the inductor at a certain frequency due to the interaction of the inductance and the distributed capacitance of the inductor itself. The resonant frequency is the self-resonant frequency of the inductor, and the power inductor is required to be used below the self-resonant frequency.
