The difference between toroidal transformer and square transformer

Toroidal transformers and square transformers belong to the category of electronic transformers. From the appearance, toroidal transformers are ring-shaped, their cores are made of silicon steel sheets, and the cores of square transformers are made of E-type silicon steel. Sheet and I-type silicon steel sheet are cross stacked. Except for the difference in structure between the two, what are the other differences?

1. Efficiency: Under the same power, the working efficiency of 50W toroidal transformer is 86%-90%, while the working efficiency of 50W square transformer is 80-84%.

2. Temperature rise: At the same power, the temperature rise of a 50W toroidal transformer is very low, while the temperature rise of a 50W square transformer.

3. Cost: The cost of toroidal transformers above 200W is low, and the cost of square transformers above 200W is relatively high.

4. Interference: The magnetic leakage of the ring transformer is very small, the magnetic leakage of the square transformer is obvious, and there is low frequency interference.

5. Lifetime: Although the toroidal transformer and the square transformer have no obvious material for life attenuation, the life of the toroidal transformer is still longer than that of the square transformer.

6. Low temperature characteristics: the toroidal transformer can be used normally in an environment of minus 30 degrees, which is very suitable for outdoor use in northern winter.

7. Flexible design: The volume of the toroidal transformer can be flexibly customized according to customer requirements, and the multi-winding can be customized according to the customer, without the need for molds and easy installation.
