How to distinguish shielded inductance from unshielded inductance?

It is believed that many people are confused about the comparison between shielded inductance and unshielded inductance. According to the different performance of magnetic shielding, shielding inductance and non-shielding inductance are two different terms. There are patch inductance and I-type inductance in shielding inductance, the same is true of non-shielding inductance.

So how can we make fast zones for shielded inductors and unshielded inductors? What are the differences between them? The following Gujing Electronic Editor will be described from the following three aspects.

1. Distinguishing Shielded Inductance from Non-Shielded Inductance in Appearance

There is a magnetic shielding structure outside the shielding inductance, so it can be seen from the appearance that the coil winding must be non-shielding inductance, and the shielding inductance can not be seen from the appearance of the coil winding.

However, there is an exception to this rule. It is not necessarily shielding inductance that can't see the coil. It may also be I-inductance with thermal expansion sleeve.

2. Distinguishing Shielded Inductance from Non-Shielded Inductance in Composition Structure of Magnetic Circuit

(1) The magnetic circuit structure of shielded inductor is closed circuit structure: closed circuit structure is composed of magnetic materials, magnetic impedance is very small, representing the core as a ring core, is closed circuit structure.
(2)The structure of unshielded inductor magnetic circuit is open magnetic circuit. Because of the bare structure of magnetic circuit, it has very obvious air gap, and its impedance is relatively large, representing U-type and EE-type magnetic cores.

3. Performance distinction between shielded inductance and unshielded inductance

(1)Because the shielding inductance and non-shielding inductance have different magnetic shielding structures, the volume of shielding inductance is larger than that of non-shielding inductance under the same inductance and working current.

(2) The unshielded inductor has the characteristics of high saturation, small volume and low impedance. It mainly concentrates on plug-in inductor, part of patch inductor GCD series (soon replaced by shielded inductor), bar inductor.

(3)Shielded inductance has the characteristics of high power, low resistance and high current. Mainly used in EMC circuits with high requirements, involving signal transmission, Intelligent Computing and so on, such as mobile phones, computers, high-quality audio and so on.
