Advantages of Sendust (Kool Mu)
High saturation (1.05 Tesla)
The core loss is lower than that of iron powder core (see figure below).
Appropriate cost
Low magnetostriction
Curie temperature is high
Stable performance at high temperature
Various available shapes (E, U, block, segmented core, etc.)
Comparison of Sendust and Gap Ferrite
Soft saturation: Ferrite must be designed in a safe flat area of the descent curve. Ferrosilicate aluminium can design its working range in a locally controlled descent curve.
Magnetic flux: At the 50% drop design point, the magnetic flux is more than twice that of ferrite, so the size of the core can be reduced by 35%.
Temperature: The magnetic flux of ferrite decreases with temperature, while that of ferrite, silicon and aluminium remains constant.
Fault Tolerance: Soft saturation curve makes the ferrosilicon-aluminium design itself fault-tolerant, while ferrite does not.
Edge loss: Sendust will not suffer from edge loss, while interstitial ferrites have large edge loss.
Comparison of Iron Silicon Aluminum and Iron Powder Core
Core loss: core loss of iron, silicon and aluminium is lower than that of iron powder core
Near Zero Magnetostriction: Ferrosilicon Aluminum is very suitable for eliminating audio noise in filter inductors
No thermal ageing: Sendust does not use organic binders in the manufacturing process, so it has no thermal ageing problem and can work continuously at 200 degrees Celsius.
Comparison of Sendust and Si-steel
Soft saturation: Silicon steel has discrete gaps, so as the current increases, it will soon become saturated. Ferrosilicon aluminium with distributed air gap can be designed in depth under saturation curve, so the volume of inductor can be smaller.
Core loss: The core loss of iron, silicon and aluminium is much lower than that of silicon steel. With the increase of frequency, the difference will become larger and larger.
Temperature stability: Epoxy resin used in silicon steel sheets cannot work at 200 degrees Celsius like iron, silicon and aluminium.
Cost: The cost of ferrosilicon-aluminium core is much lower than that of silicon steel block of the same size.
