At present, autotransformer and toroidal transformer are commonly used electronic transformers, but they have great differences in working principle and use. Let's briefly talk about the differences between them.
The autotransformer is mainly electromagnetic coupling. It is a kind of transformer whose primary and secondary are on the same winding. Its working principle is to wind two or more coils on a closed iron core. When the alternating current passes through the coil, the coil will generate a magnetic field under the action of the iron core, and then the magnetic field will use its own induction to form the electromotive force. At the same time, the other coil sense and its mutual induction electromotive force can change the number of turns of the coil to achieve the purpose of changing the voltage at both ends. In addition, the primary coil and the secondary coil that need to be paid attention to, because of the direct connection, will have the risk of cross level leakage, so they cannot be used to use the portable lamp transformer. Autotransformer is widely used in the field of electrified railway because of its small size, low consumption and high efficiency.
Toroidal transformer is a type of electronic transformer, which can be divided into standard power transformer, economical power transformer and isolation transformer. The main working principle is the iron core made of cold-rolled silicon steel sheet. The magnetic force is generated by the coil and then induced by the magnetic circuit of the iron core. The anti-interference ability of the toroidal transformer is very strong, the vibration noise is relatively small, and the heat dissipation of the winding on the iron core with low temperature is relatively good, so the iron loss produced is relatively small. In addition, there is a mounting screw in the center of the toroidal transformer, which is very convenient for application in electronic equipment. Because of these advantages, it is widely used in computer, medical equipment, instruments, communication, lighting and other aspects. So far, the toroidal type transformer has a considerable production scale in China, not only to meet the needs of rich domestic, but also a large number of exports. In China, it is mainly used in the speaker equipment and lighting of home appliances
