Common-mode inductor is a ferrite core of common-mode interference suppression devices, it is made up of two same size, same number of turns of the coil symmetrically on the same ferrite ring core, forming a four terminal device, to the common mode signal present a large inductance with inhibition, and for the differential mode signal present a little small leakage inductance. The principle is that when flowing through the common-mode current, the magnetic flux in the magnetic ring is superimposed on each other, so there is a considerable amount of inductance, which can suppress the common-mode current. When the two coils flow through the differential mode current, the magnetic flux in the magnetic ring cancels each other, and there is almost no inductance, so the differential mode current can pass through without attenuation. Therefore, the common mode inductance can effectively suppress the common mode interference signal in the balance circuit, but has no effect on the normal transmission of the differential mode signal.
The filter inductor generally uses ferrite material, which can be easily combined with the penetrating capacitor to form a composite filter. In the high-performance filter, wire-wound inductors are also used. However, it should be noted that ferrooxide materials will be magnetically saturated at large current currents, which will reduce the filter efficiency.
